Williams Captures 2015 Ann S. Batchelder Golf Invitational Title; Blue Places 6th

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Williams College recorded a weekend total of 609 to capture the team championship at the Ann S. Batchelder Golf Invitational at the par-72, 5,860 yard Nehoiden Golf Course on the campus of Wellesley College. The Ephs have now captured seven straight titles at the event. 

New York University took second, shooting 629 on the weekend thanks to scores of 316 on Saturday and 313 on Friday. Middlebury College came in third (640), followed by Amherst College (661) in fourth, Mount Holyoke (676) in fifth, host Wellesley (698) in sixth, Vassar (701) in seventh, Westfield State (790) in eighth and Williams Smith College (836) in ninth. 

Williams sophomore Phoebe Mattana (Demarest, N.J.) captured individual medalist honors, shooting an even par 72 on day two, after recording a 75 on day one, to finish with an overall score of 147. NYU sophomore Angela Yang (Irvine, Calif.) cut one stroke off her day-one mark of 76, firing a 75 to take runner-up honors with a 151. 

Mattana was one of three Ephs in the top-5. First year Cordelia Chan (Windsor, Ontario) took third with a total of 153, after adding a day two 73 to her first round score of 80. Tracey Kim (Irvine, Calif.), last year's medalist, fired a 77 on both days of the event to tie for fourth with Lilia Everson (Edina, Minn.) of Middlebury at 154 overall. Everson also shot 77 on both days. 

The host Blue were led by Annika Vandayar (Garnet Valley, Pa.), as the first year fired a score of 87 on day two, following her day one 82, to finish in a tie for 22nd place. Sophomore Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) took 27th place after trimming seven strokes off her first round score of 89 to record an 82 on Sunday. 

First year Amy (Zilin) Jin (Shenzhen, China) tied for 31st place after shooting 178 on the weekend, while senior Lei Wei (Brentwood, Calif.) took 33rd thanks to a weekend total of 180. Also playing for the Blue, first year Katie Lee (Portland, Ore.) and sophomore Kathleena Inchoco (Fairfield, Conn.) finished in 35th and 42nd place, respectively.  

The eighth annual Ann S. Batchelder Golf Invitational concludes the fall season for Wellesley golf. The Blue will return to action in March.
