Wellesley Golf in Second After Opening Round of Ann S. Batchelder Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College golf is in second place following opening round play at the 2019 Ann S. Batchelder Invitational at Wellesley's own Par-72, 5,860 yard Nehoiden Golf Club. Sophomore Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) leads the Blue after posting a first round 77. Blonder is currently in seventh place.

Williams College leads the field at 8-over par (296). The Blue are in second (315) and Middlebury College (319) is four strokes back in third. Amherst College is fourth (332), while Mount Holyoke (339) is in fifth, Vassar (368) is in sixth and Trinity (Conn.) is in seventh (438). Williams sophomore Joanna Kim (Edina, Minn.) is atop the individual leaderboard thanks to an opening round 70 (-2). 

Wellesley senior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and sophomore Audrey Lin (Fremont, Calif.) secured spots in the top-ten with matching rounds of 79 (T-9th), just two strokes behind Blonder. First year Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) is currently tied with Morgan Yurosek of Amherst College for 11th after posting an 80 in her first round for the Blue. Sophomore Chansie Yang (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) put up a round of 83 and is currently tied with Mehr Sawant of Williams College for 19th.
 
Playing as individuals, sophomores Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) and Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) both shot 82 (T14). Warburg currently leads the tournament in Par-3 scoring at 2-under. Senior Olivia de Cuba (Bilthoven, Netherlands) posted a round of 85 (T-23rd) and first year Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) currently holds 32nd place after a round of 88.

Final round play begins with a shotgun start tomorrow, September 15, at 9:00 AM.
