Blue Golf Takes First in Bowdoin Polar Bear Classic

BRUNSWICK, Me. -- Wellesley College took first place on a sunny Saturday in the Bowdoin Polar Bear Classic, hosted by Bowdoin College at the Brunswick Golf Club.

The Wellesley Blue squad (326) finished 22 strokes ahead of the Bowdoin White (348) group. Bates (349) placed third, finishing just one shot behind Bowdoin. Following Bates was Trinity (371) and finally Husson (405). Wellesley's Elizabeth Kim (Fairbanks, Alaska) earned the individual medalist honor, firing a score of 77 (+4) in her first collegiate tournament.

First year Kim finished one under through her final seven holes to post a back nine score of 36 to lead the Blue. Junior Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) placed third in the individual standings, posting a 79 (+6) on the scorecard. Tied for fifth was Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) who came in with a 81 (+8). Also in the top 10 was sophomore Emma Lim (Naperville, Ill.), posting a solid round of 86 (+13).

The first place finishing Wellesley Blue team consisted of Kim, Warburg, Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.), and Norah Caitlin (Wesley Chapel, Fla.). Blonder and Caitlin each carded a round of 84 for the Blue. 

Wellesley is back at it next weekend for the George Phinney Classic at The Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, VT on Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19.
