Wellesley College Golf Places 4th at George Phinney Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Wellesley College finished in fourth place on Sunday in day two of the George Phinney Classic, hosted by Middlebury College at the The Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

Wellesley finished 10 strokes better than yesterday, posting a 323 and 656 for the tournament. First place winner Williams College (304) came in with an aggregate winning score of 620. Amherst College placed second with a score of 632 and New York University took the bronze after posting a two-day score of 634.

First year Jessica Huang (Auckland, New Zealand) of Amherst earned the medalist honor, after defeating Nalinda Wanikpun (Bangkok, Thailand) of NYU on the first playoff hole. Both players finished the two-day tournament with a score of 152.

After posting an 83 on Saturday, senior Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.)  found her swing and fired a 78 on Sunday. Warburg was the top finisher for the Blue, coming in the clubhouse tied for 13th place. Junior Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) also shot a 78 for Wellesley and finished in a tie for 19th. Her sister Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) posted an 83 and placed in the top-25 for the Blue. Rounding out the scores for Wellesley were Emma Lim (Naperville, Ill.) with an 84 and Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) with an 87.

Wellesley golf returns next weekend for the Wesleyan (CT) Invitational at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield, Connecticut. It will be a two-day event starting on Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26.
