Blue Take Seventh at Williams Fall Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Wellesley College golf team finished in seventh place out of ten with a team score of 641 (325-316) at the Williams Fall Invitational at the par 71 Taconic Golf Club.

After entering the day eight shots behind, Williams College (590) shot a 290 and took first place over Amherst College, who finished the tournament with a 592. Tianyi Zhuang (Orlando, Fla.) of Williams College was the medalist after rounds of 74 and 71 over the weekend. New York University (310-306) finished in sole possession of third place.

After her 78 on Saturday, Sophomore Emma Lim (Naperville, Ill.) followed up with a solid round of 80 and ended as the best finisher for the Blue. The low scorer of the day for Wellesley was Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.), who birdied three holes on the back nine and shot a 77 (+6). Junior Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) found the groove on Sunday, shooting a 78 including for birdies on the card. Caroline MacVicar finished up her consistent weekend with a 38 on the back nine and an 81 overall. Senior Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) matched her round yesterday with another respectable 83. 

The Blue will finish out the 2021 fall season at the NYU Invitational in Bloomfield, New Jersey on Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17. The team will play at the beautiful par 71 Forest Hill Field Club.
