Blue Golf Takes Second Place at NYU Invitational

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -- Wellesley College golf put together a two-day score of 635 (315-320) to take second at the NYU Invitational at the Par-72, 5,826 yard Forest Hill Field Club.

Williams College maintained its grip on first place to win the tournament title. The Ephs finished with a two-day score of 600, paced by individual medalist Catalin Yturralde (Lamesa, Calif.), who moved up two spots on the leaderboard with a Sunday 72 to shoot 147 on the weekend. Host NYU (639) was four strokes back of the Blue in third, while York College (PA) took fourth (648) in the seven-team field. 

Juniors Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) each finished in the top-ten for the Blue. Kate followed an opening round 77 with a 78 on Sunday to take seventh (155) and Caroline totaled 80 following an opening round 79 to take tenth (159).

Senior Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) who fired an 80 on Saturday, held on to 12th place (161) with a final round 81, while classmate Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished in a tie for 14th (163) after shooting 85 on Sunday. Sophomore Emma Lim (Naperville, Ill.) dropped six strokes from her opening round 87 to move up to a tie for 23rd (168) and senior Chansie Yang (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) took 27th (88-86-174) in her first tournament of the season.

This weekend's action closed out the fall portion of the 2021-22 season schedule.
