Kate MacVicar Leads Wellesley Golf to 7th Place Finish at George Phinney Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - After two days of competition, Wellesley College golf finished seventh at the 2022 George Phinney Golf Classic hosted by Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt. 

Williams College won the team competition with a 648, followed by New York University (650), Amherst College (662), Hamilton College (665), and host Middlebury College's A and B Teams (668 & 684). Wellesley placed seventh with 685, ahead of Bates College (700), Bowdoin College (706), Wesleyan University (720), Trinity College (771), and Vassar College (837). First year Peyton Sichol (Winnetka, Ill.) of Hamilton was the overall tournament winner with 158 over 36 holes. 

Senior Kate Macvicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) shot an 84 on Sunday to lead the Blue with a 166 on the weekend, good for 16th place. Following Macvicar was her twin, Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.), with a 168 tied for 21st on the weekend. Junior Emma Lim (Skillman, N.J.) shot a 175, while classmate Marilyn Fang (Beijing, China) and sophomore Elizabeth Kim (Riverside, Calif.) both shot 180 to round out the Blue. Playing as an individual first year Ashley Cong (Troy, Mich.) shot a 179.

Wellesley golf is off next weekend but returns October 14-15 to finish off their fall season with the NEIGA Championships at The Captains Golf Club in Brewster, Mass.
