Blue Golf Moves Up Leaderboard to Take 3rd at Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Wellesley College golf moved up the leaderboard to finish third in the team standings on the final day of the 2023 Williams Invitational on Sunday at the Par-71 Taconic Golf Club.

Entering the day in fourth place following an opening round 313, the Blue stayed on target with a final round 312 to finish with a total score of 625. Hamilton (308-326-634) dropped 18 strokes on Sunday to fall to fourth. Host Williams took the top spot, with the Ephs 'A' team finishing with a 16 shot lead (293-304-597) over second place Pomona-Pitzer (301-312-613). 

Williams sophomore Euna Lee (Irvine, Calif.) finished one stroke over par on Sunday to overtake teammate junior Gio Kim (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) by one stroke for individual medalist honors. Lee finished the tournament with a total score of 148. Kim was 3-under par on Saturday but carded an 81 on Sunday to finish with a total of 149.

First year Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) was the top finisher for the Blue, tying for third with a score of 151. Wang shot a 75 on Sunday after shooting a 76 on Saturday. Classmate Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) followed in 14th place, finishing 6-over on Sunday to total 155 for the weekend.

First year Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) jumped up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 27th. Du opened with an 80 on Saturday but shot a final round 78. Classmates Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) and Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) tied for 35th with matching scores of 163 for the tournament. 

Wellesley will return to action on Friday and Saturday, September 30-October 1, at the Wesleyan (CT) Invitational at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, Conn.
