Wellesley Betters Program Low 18-Hole Score to Win One-Day Vassar Invitational; Wang Shoots Program Best 68

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Only a week after setting a program low 18-hole score, Wellesley College golf set a new record on Saturday. The Blue shot a 290 (+2) as a team to cruise to a victory in the first of two one-day Vassar Invitational events at the Casperkill G.C. 

First year Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) carded a 68 (-4) to win the individual competition by four strokes. Wang's remarkable score is a Wellesley golf record by two strokes.

Classmates Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) and Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) claimed second and third place as individuals. Du shot a 72 (E). Sun carded a 73 (+1).

Senior Marilyn Fang (Beijing, China) and first year Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) both had top-ten finishes. Fang placed seventh with a 77 (+5). Lewis shot a 78 (+6) and claimed ninth.

First year Maria Li (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) played as an individual and earned 15th with a score of 81 (+9).

Wesleyan finished second as a team with a score of 307. Babson earned the bronze with a score of 326.

The second one-day Vassar Invitational begins tomorrow at 8:00 AM.
