Blue Golf Claims Jack Leaman Invitational Title; Du Records Program-Best 36-Hole Score

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – First years Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) and Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) each provided top-three finishes to help No. 8 Wellesley College golf capture first out of 17 teams at the 36-hole Jack Leaman Invitational at the Orchards G.C. on Sunday. The Blue have now won its last six competitions.

Du carded a 75 (+3) on Sunday to claim second out of 97 competitors with a score of 146 (71-75). Du's performance set a Wellesley program record for the lowest 36-hole score. Classmate Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) finished third overall with a score of 148 (73-75).

Wellesley's two-day score of 608 (300-308) helped the team get past second place Amherst (614). Middlebury rounded out the top three with a score of 619. Amherst junior Jessica Huang (Auckland, New Zealand) won the individual competition with a winning score of 144 (69-75).

First year Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) tied for 13th by shooting a 156 (79-77). Classmates Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) (77-83-160) and Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) (81-81-162) both contributed to the Blue's team victory.

Playing as an individual, first year Kaurvaki Bajpai (Chantilly, Va.) carded a 163 (81-82).

Up next, the Blue compete in the Liberty League Championship, Saturday-Sunday, April 27-28 at the Pine Haven Golf Club in Guilderland, N.Y.
