Wellesley Lacrosse Bested by Framingham State in Season Opener

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Framingham State took an early lead and never looked back in a 17-2 win over Wellesley College lacrosse in their season opener on Wednesday at Butler Stadium.

Juniors Rachel Erickson (Dunstable, Mass.) and Hannah Guerin (Cumberland, R.I.) combined for 11 goals for the Rams (1-0) while classmate Regan Fein (North Attleboro, Mass.) recorded four assists. Sophomore Ashley You (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) scored both the goals for the Blue (0-1) in addition to earning six draw controls.

Framingham State utilized free position shots early on to take a 4-0 lead with two goals from Erickson. You scored for the Blue at 2:46 of the first on a bounce in shot.

The Rams extended their lead to 11-1 by the half and kept their foot on the gas throughout the second half. You scored her second goal of the game early in the fourth.

First year goalie Isabella DiMare (Wakefield, Mass.) stopped five shots in goal while senior goal Alex Burleigh (Vernon, Conn.) saved three for Framingham State. Senior Hannah Pangborn (Raleigh, N.C.) saved seven shots for the Blue.

Framingham State outshot Wellesley 30-11 with 13 free position shots, converting on 11. Framingham had 15 ground balls to Wellesley's 11.

The Blue will host Worcester State on Saturday at 12:00 PM, while the Rams will host Plymouth State on Friday at 5:00 PM.
