WELLESLEY, Mass. – First year Finley Tipton (Coppell, Texas) matched a season-high with five goals as Wellesley College lacrosse dropped a 15-8 non-conference match-up versus visiting Bridgewater St. on Wednesday evening at Butler Stadium.

Senior Liz Sugg (Palermo, Maine) added a pair of goals and junior Willa McGough (Plainfield, N.H.) netted her third of the season for Wellesley (2-4 overall). Junior Savannah Herrington (Kinnelon, N.J.) and graduate student Delaney Langton (Scituate, R.I.) each recorded three goals and an assist and senior Katie O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.) also scored a hat trick to lead Bridgewater St. (4-5 overall).

With the score tied 2-2 at the 11:47 mark of the first, Herrington scored a natural hat trick to spur a 10-0 Bridgewater St. run that helped the Bears take a commanding 12-2 lead into halftime. The Bears scored three free position shots during the run with the final coming from Langton with 2:13 left in the second quarter.

Third quarter goals from Sugg and Tipton helped the Blue cut the gap to 13-4 heading into fourth. Langton netted a  goal early in the fourth before Wellesley scored four unanswered late goals.

Sugg led off the charge before McGough added another goal. Tipton then dropped in back-to-back goals, including a full sprint goal with the team down a player. Ultimately Wellesley fell 15-8, though the late comeback showed promising signs for the Blue.

The Bears outshot Wellesley 31-19 while BSU converted on five of nine free position shots. First year Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.) saved eight shots for the Blue while Olivia Kerrigan (Braintree, Mass.) stopped three for Bridgewater.

Wellesley will travel to Wheaton for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match-up on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Bridgewater St will visit Worcester St. on Saturday at noon.
