Blue Lacrosse Drops Senior Day Game to Babson

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Four players recorded hat-tricks for Babson as they completed a 24-0 shutout over Wellesley College lacrosse in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday at Butler Stadium.

Prior to the game the Blue recognized seniors Liz Sugg (Palermo, Maine), Salome Greene (Minnetrista, Minn.), and Hannah Pangborn (Raleigh, N.C.) for their contributions to the Wellesley lacrosse program.

Grad student Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.), seniors Claudia Dodge (Pelham, N.Y.), Erin Jayne (Merrimac, Mass.) and first year Lilly Bedard (Jupiter, Fla.) all scored three apiece for the Beavers (7-6 Overall, 5-1 NEWMAC) while teammate Kathryn Blake (Medfield, Mass.) had a pair of goals along with three assists.

The Beavers scored 15 first half goals and controlled the offensive output of the game, with 36 total shots to Wellesley's four and the Beavers scooped up 25 ground balls. Babson sophomore Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) won 16 draw controls for Babson while Curtis and junior Eileen Manning (Needham, Mass.) both collected four ground balls. Sophomore goalie Kathleen Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) saved a pair of shots in the shutout.

Sophomores Julee Sharma (Lake Mary, Fla.) and Anna Tutek (Trumbull, Conn.) each caused a pair of turnovers for the Blue (4-9 Overall, 2-4 NEWMAC) while first year Phoebe Calero (Havre de Grace, Md.) won two draw controls and scooped up a pair of ground balls. 

Pangborn and first year Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.) each had three saves for Wellesley.

Next Wednesday the Blue will host Springfield at 7:00 PM in a NEWMAC matchup. Babson will return home to take on Roger Williams on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
