WELLESLEY, Mass. – Rutgers University-Newark senior Sarah Corson (Metuchen, N.J.) scored a pair of goals to lead the visiting Scarlet Knights to a 2-1 come from behind victory over Wellesley College soccer in non-conference play on Sunday afternoon. The win helps the Scarlet Knights improve to 5-1-0 on the season. Wellesley drops to 3-1-0 on the year after going 1-1-0 in this weekend's Wellesley Classic.

Wellesley opened the scoring in the contest, as junior Maddie Carlborg (Burbank, Calif.) notched her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Carlborg lofted a high-arcing shot from the top of the penalty area over the head of Rutgers-Newark goalkeeper Diana Carvalho (Newark, N.J.) and into the back of the net to give Wellesley the lead at 15:28 of the first half.

Corson would counter for the Scarlet Knights just under ten minutes later, scoring her fifth goal of the season when she buried a low cross from classmate Paige Lazar (Randolph, N.J.) past Wellesley senior goalkeeper Kat Goldsmith (Armonk, N.Y.).

Goldsmith finished the game with a pair of saves, one in each half, for the Blue. Carvalho made six save to pick up the win for Rutgers-Newark, turning aside four shots in the first half.

Wellesley held a 14-10 advantage in shots, also landing seven shots on goal to just four for the Scarlet Knights. The Blue also had a 7-0 lead in corner kick opportunities but were unable to solve Carvalho after Carlborg's first half strike.

With the team's tied at 1-1 in the second half, Corson netted her sixth goal of the season at 66:06 to push the Scarlet Knights out ahead. The senior forward unleashed a hard shot from the top of the penalty area, scoring her second goal of the contest and the eventual game-winner.

Wellesley will look to rebound on Tuesday, September 15, when the Blue host Endicott at 4:30 PM. Rutgers-Newark returns home for their next match, hosting The College at Old Westbury under the lights at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16.
