Wellesley's Knowles, You Mak Earn NEWMAC Soccer All-Conference Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2017 Women's Soccer All-Conference team on Tuesday and Wellesley College senior Melise Knowles (Diablo, Calif.) and sophomore Kendall You Mak (San Francisco, Calif.) have been named to the All-Conference second team.

Knowles, a four-year member of the Blue soccer program and a two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honoree, earns her first NEWMAC All-Conference award following a season that included four goals and an assist. Knowles netted the game-winner in Wellesley's September 29th victory at Coast Guard and registered a team-high 65 shots on the season. The Wellesley midfielder will end her career with 15 goals and five assists in 72 career games played.

You Mak joined the Blue soccer program for the 2017-18 season and made an immediate impact, playing in all 18 games this season while making 17 starts. They played primarily on the Blue's backline, but also provided an attacking presence, netting their first career goal, and the game-winner, in Wellesley's 2-0 win at Emerson on October 14th. You Mak also picked up an assist as Wellesley rallied to tie Roger Williams, 2-2, in non-conference play on September 19th.

Wellesley soccer ended the 2017 season with a 6-8-4 overall record and 5-4-1 mark during the NEWMAC regular season. The Blue advanced to the NEWMAC quarterfinals for the second straight season before falling in a penalty shootout to tournament finalist Springfield.
