Hilgenberg, Jones, Knudsen Named to NEWMAC 25th Year All-Women's Soccer Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced their 25-Year All-NEWMAC Women's Soccer Team on Wednesday. Among the selections were former Wellesley student-athletes Katie Knudsen (1995-1999), Sarah Hilgenberg (1996-2000), and Bridget Jones (1999-2003).

Katie Knudsen was a United Soccer Coaches, formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Regional All-American in 1996, 1997, and 1998. Knudsen was also a three-time NEW-8 All-Conference First Team member, and was the NEW-8 Player of the Year in 1996 and 1997. Knudsen was later on the first NEWMAC All-Conference First Team for women's soccer. Knudsen was part of a Wellesley soccer team that was a NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament regional finalist in 1998. 

Sarah Hilgenberg is a member of the Wellesley College Athletics Hall of Fame, inducted in 2018. Hilgenberg was named a NSCAA National All-American in 1998 and 1999, and was a three-time member of the NSCAA Regional All-American First Team. Hilgenberg was also a three-time New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Regional First Team member, a four-time NEW-8/NEWMAC All-Conference First Team member, the 1996 NEW-8 Rookie of the Year, and the 1999 NEWMAC Player of the Year. Hilgenberg was part of a Wellesley soccer team that won the NEWMAC in 1999, and were NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament regional finalists in 1998 and 1999.

Bridget Jones was a NSCAA Regional All-American First Team member in 2000. Jones was also a NEWISA All-New England Regional First Team member in 2000, and a four-time NEWMAC All-Conference First Team member. Jones was part of a Wellesley soccer team that won the 1999 NEWMAC Championship, was a NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament regional finalist in 1999, and won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship in 2001. 

The NEWMAC 25-Year All-NEWMAC Teams are a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the NEWMAC athletic conference. The NEWMAC was formed in 1998, when the former New England Women's 8 Conference (NEW 8) voted to begin sponsoring conference play and championships for men.
