WORCESTER, Mass. – After a goal from both teams in the first five minutes, Wellesley College soccer and Clark never scored again in a 1-1 NEWMAC tie at Granger Athletic Complex on Saturday.

The Cougars (7-3-4 Overall, 2-3-2 NEWMAC) jumped on the board at the 2:04 mark with a goal from the top of the box by grad student Jamie Stern (Highland Park, Ill.) that was set up by a pass into the open field from classmate Siobhan Lounsbury (Southbury, Conn.).

The Blue (3-4-4 Overall, 2-2-3 NEWMAC) struck back two minutes later at the 4:16 mark, when senior Remi Fernandez (Valencia, Spain) flicked a high lob that lofted over Clark's outstretched fingers and found the back of the goal.

Neither team scored in the rest of the contest, with both Wellesley sophomore Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) and Clark junior Annabella White (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) earning one save for their respective teams.

Wellesley outshot Clark 10-6, though both teams had two shots on goal. The Cougars attempted three corner kicks while the Blue took two.

The Blue remain on the road on Wednesday, October 18 with a 6:00 PM match at Emerson. The Cougars will be playing at Mount Holyoke at the same time.
