Wellesley Squash's Fight Not Enough Against Tufts
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College squash dropped a well fought match to Tufts Friday night, sliding into a 9-0 loss to the Jumbos. The loss evens Wellesley's season record to 2-2.

First-year Lilly Tyson battled at the three spot, swapping games with Paige Dahlman, but the effort was not enough as Dahlman prevailed 6-11, 11-4, 11-4, 6-11, 12-10. The same story line played out at four with Margo Sulmont fighting against Ann Bellinger for a 5-11, 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-6 finish and six where Cara Kaufman lost her first match of the season to Risa Meyers in an 11-8, 8-11, 11-13, 14-12, 11-5 effort.

Four slot Haley Vasquez's comeback wasn't enough to overpower Alyse Vinoski, posting an 11-7, 11-1, 6-11, 11-9 score. Alexandra Spiliakos experienced her first loss as a collegiate athlete, finishing 5-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-9 against Jennifer LaCara at six. Jennifer Hsu re-debuted with Wellesley squash at eight, welcomed back with a strong effort but tough loss against Hafsa Chaudry 11-8, 14-12, 9-11, 11-8.

Wellesley fought but struggled at the top and bottom of the ladder. Emma Haley succumbed to Jessica Rubine at one, playing with heart to a 14-12, 12-10, 11-3 finish. At two, Sara Del Balzo combated with Mercedes Barba to settle an 11-5, 11-6, 11-4 score. Stephanie Lee was beaten, but not without a fight, at the nine spot against Madison Newbound, placing a 12-10, 11-4, 11-4.

Wellesley squash has a busy weekend ahead of them at the MIT Round Robin, playing Connecticut College on Saturday at 4 PM, and Wesleyan (Conn.) and Colby on Sunday, at 1 and 3 PM.
