Blue Squash Competes at MIT Round Robin

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Wellesley College squash team went 0-3 competing against tough competition at the MIT Round Robin this weekend. The Blue fell 9-0 to Wesleyan, 8-1 to Colby and 8-1 to Connecticut College.

Against Conn., Wellesley picked up a win in the eight spot where junior Jen Hsu picked up a five-game win over Naomi Mayeaux. Hsu won with game scores of 10-12, 14-12, 11-8, 6-11, 11-4. Two other Blue squash players had matches go to five games, as first-year Lilly Tyson narrowly fell to Laura Abrams at three (11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9), and sophomore Stephanie Lee fell to Ashley Crutchfield at nine (6-11, 11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 11-3). 

In the match against Colby, Lee picked up a win over Amelia Barnett at nine, taking the match 11-9, 4-11, 10-12, 11-9, 11-5. At eight, Hsu went to five games against Emma Beck (9-11, 8-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-6), while at five sophomore Haley Vasquez picked up a game against Liz Brehman, but fell 11-4, 6-11, 11-9, 11-5. 

Squaring off against a talented Wesleyan team, Wellesley's closest match of the afternoon came in the nine spot where Lee narrowly missed forcing a fifth game, falling to Cristina Ortiz, 11-5, 7-11, 11-8, 12-10. 

The Blue return to action the weekend of December 2nd, co-hosting the MIT/Wellesley Round Robin at MIT. Wellesley will battle Northeastern, Boston College, Harvard and NYU at the event.
