Squash Competes at MIT Round Robin

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Wellesley College squash team competed at the MIT Round Robin this weekend, playing tough competition that included #9 Brown, #11 Middlebury, #18 Wesleyan, and #21 Colby. 

The Blue fell to Brown, Middlebury and Colby by 9-0 scores, while picking up a win in an 8-1 loss to Wesleyan. 

Against Wesleyan, the match was closer than the final score indicated, with three matches being decided in four or more games. At five, first-year Gabriella Wynne was the lone winner for the Blue, sweeping Wesleyan's Kar-Anne Tan by scores of 11-6, 11-7 and 11-7.

Also against Wesleyan, Wellesley's number one, junior Rosemary O'Connor took her opponent to four games, while sophomore Haley Vasquez battled back from an 0-2 deficit to tie the match, but ultimately fell in five games. The other tight match was at seven, where senior Cara Kaufman forced four games in her match.

The Wellesley College squash team is back in action on Wednesday, November 28th, taking on Tufts at MIT. The Blue will then head to the Wesleyan Round Robin on December 1st.
