Blue Squash Sweeps Haverford at Pioneer Valley Invite

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Wellesley College squash team posted a 1-2 record competing at the 2012 Pioneer Valley Invitational this weekend. The Blue recorded a win over Haverford, but fell to Mount Holyoke and Amherst.

Against Haverford, Wellesley earned the 9-0 sweep with seven matches not making it past three games. Rosemary O'Connor posted a 3-0 win at one, while at two Gabriella Wynne recorded a come-from-behind victory, winning 3-2.

In the middle of the line-up, Wellesley posted 3-0 wins in the three through eight spots. Lilly Tyson won at three, Haley Vasquez at four, Margo Sulmont at five, Alexandra Spiliakos at six, Cara Kaufman at seven and Emaline Surgenor at eight.

Wrapping up the Haverford match, Kate Loftus posted a 3-1 win in the ninth spot and Mollee Jain won her exhibition match at 10, 3-0.

Also this weekend, Wellesley picked up two wins against #18 Mount Holyoke. Winners for the Blue were Surgenor at eight and Loftus at nine.

Wellesley squash is back in action next weekend, competing at the Maine Round Robin at Bowdoin College.
