Squash Falls to #17 Wesleyan to Open CSA Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College squash team opened play at the 2013 College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships with a 9-0 loss to #17 Wesleyan on Friday.

The Blue now fall to the consolation bracket and will face Mount Holyoke on Saturday at 11:00am.

Though Wellesley fell 9-0, several matches were close. Playing in the number one spot, junior Rosemary O'Connor nearly pulled out a victory, but eventually fell to Wesleyan #1, Mary Foster. The match went five games, with neither player gaining more than a one game-advantage. Foster came out on top, with the final score 11-3, 6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6.

In the third and fourth spots, sophomore Lilly Tyson and junior Sara Del Balzo each played close matches. Tyson fell 11-8, 11-3, 14-12, while Del Balzo kept it close, falling 11-9, 11-6, 11-9.

Also stretching her match to extra points in the first game, junior Haley Vasquez fell 13-11, 11-3, 11-7.
