Wellesley Squash Wins Three at Smith Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College squash team went undefeated at the 2014 Smith Invitational, picking up three victories on Saturday. The Blue topped Smith, Colgate, and William Smith at the event.

Today's results improve Wellesley's season record to 8-5.

The Blue cruised to three victories on the day, combining to out-score their opponents, 26-1. Wellesley picked up 9-0 sweeps against Smith and Colgate and also grabbed a commanding 8-1 win against William Smith.

Opening the day against the hosts, Wellesley did not allow Smith to grab a game in any of the matches played. The Blue nabbed a similar victory against William Smith, winning each flight in three games. Wrapping up the day against William Smith, Wellesley won in the first through eighth spots to seal the team victory.

At the top of the line-up, seniors
Rosemary O'Connor and Sara Del Balzo each went 3-0 on the day, playing at one and two. At three, first-year Meera Nayar also grabbed three wins, while at four, senior Haley Vasquez was 3-0. 

Playing five and six for the Blue, sophomore
Gabriella Wynne and first-year Rhea Advani each posted 3-0 records, while at seven, first-year Navisha Gupta also won three times. At eight, Kate Loftus collected three wins on the day, while at nine, Ruby Feng won a pair of matches. Playing ten for the Blue, junior Sarah Tammaro wrapped up the day's statistics with a pair of victories. 

Wellesley is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to MIT to take on Northeastern at 7:00pm.
