Wellesley Squash Sweeps Northeastern

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College squash team had little trouble with Northeastern University, sweeping the Huskies, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at Dana Hall School.

The win improves the Blue to 12-5 on the season, while Northeastern falls to 3-10.

Wellesley swept all contested matches, 3-0, and allowed nine or less opponent points in most of the matches.

Senior Sara Del Balzo played the closest match of the day at one, but still defeated her opponent easily. She topped Olivia Simone, 11-3, 11-3, 11-9. At two, first-year Meera Nayar dispatched Amanda Georgescu, 11-3, 11-3, 11-3. Senior Haley Vasquez completed the top third of the ladder, with an 11-1, 11-1, 11-2, victory over Hailie Joo.

At four, sophomore Gabriella Wynne allowed just two points against her in the final two games, closing out an 11-5, 11-1, 11-0, victory over Lucia Ryll. First-year Rhea Advani was dominant at five, topping Daniela Stumm, 11-0, 11-1, 11-3. At six, first-year Navisha Gupta swept through her opponent, topping Erica Han, 11-1, 11-1, 11-1.

Rounding out the ladder, first-year Ruby Feng was an 11-2, 11-5, 11-0, winner over Asel Primbetova at seven, and sophomore Kate Loftus was an 11-0, 11-2, 11-2, winner ofer Sumita Mukund at eight.

Wellesley earned it's ninth team point at nine, where sophomore Mollee Jain won by default. 

Blue squash is back in action on Monday, taking on Boston College at 8:00pm at Dana Hall. The match will serve as senior day for Wellesley.
