Mount Holyoke Trips Up Blue Squash at CSA Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Wellesley College squash team fell 7-2 at the hands of Mount Holyoke in the consolation bracket at the 2014 College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships.

The teams were playing the rubber match of the 2013-14 series, competing today with new look line-ups from their last meeting at Seven Sisters in early February. The Blue were without their #1 and #6 players from that 6-3 victory over Mount Holyoke, while the Lyons had their fourth flight player back in the line-up.

The Blue nabbed its two team points at five and six, as first-years Rhea Advani and Navisha Gupta each improved to 2-0 at the championships.

Advani won her fifth flight match in four games, coming away with an 11-4, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7, victory over Elyse Taylor. Gupta was a winner at number six, sweeping Allison Shilling with game scores of 11-7, 12-10, 11-6.

At four, Wellesley sophomore Gabriella Wynne played a competitive match against Katrina Intal, as Wynne kept things close, but fell 12-10, 11-8, 11-7. Blue junior Sarah Tammaro also played a tight match, splitting the first two games of best-of-three exhibition against Amy Sanchez, before falling 13-11, 8-11, 11-5.

Wellesley will now move to the playoff for a national ranking of either #23 or #24. The Blue will face a new opponent in Colby College. The match will take place at 10:30am.
