Wellesley Squash Falls to Colby, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Colby College used a pair of five set victories and one four set victories to top Wellesley College squash, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at MIT. The loss snaps Wellesley's four match winning streak and moves the Blue to 4-2 overall. Colby grabs its first win of the year in its opening match. 

The Mules won both the number one and number three matches, as Devin Mullaney defeated first year Sarah Zhang, 3-0. and Elizabeth Brehman rallied to take a five set victory over sophomore Rhea Advani, 5-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7. 

Wellesley grabbed victories at the second, fourth as first year Phyllis Lin cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Colby's Tara Tischio at number 2, taking scores of 11-7, 11-3, and 11-5. Junior Gabriella Wynne then grabbed a thrilling victory at number four, winning the final three sets, 11-9, 11-4, 12-10, after dropping the first two, 5-11, 6-11, to Colby's Madeline Hunsicker.

Colby swept positions five through seven to take command of the match. Camila Di Galoma defeat sophomore Navisha Gupta in another five set marathon, taking the deciding fifth set after the two split the opening games. Caroline Pelham then defeated sophomore Ruby Feng, 3-0, before Kathryn Chow defeated senior Sarah Tammaro, 3-1. 

Mollee Jain grabbed Wellesley's third victory of the match at number eight, running off a 3-0 win with scores of 11-6, 16-14, and 11-7. However, Colby's Annabel Darling swept first year Meredith Curry in the ninth position to close out the 6-3 final. 

The Blue will return to MIT on Tuesday night when they take on Tufts at 7:00 PM.
