St. Lawrence Tops Blue Squash at CSA Walker Cup, 7-2

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – No. 22 St. Lawrence University advanced to the consolation finals of the College Squash Association's (CSA) National Team Championship Walker Cup (C Division) with a 7-2 victory over No. 23 Wellesley College squash on Saturday afternoon at Yale University's Brady Squash Courts.

The Saints, now 4-12 on the season, will play No. 20 Hamilton College in the consolation final tomorrow at 1:00 PM. Wellesley will take on No. 24 Tufts University in the final round of the consolation playoffs at 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 21, at Wesleyan University. Wellesley defeated Tufts, 8-1, during the regular season.

Senior Gabriella Wynne (Brookline, Mass.) and sophomore Haley Connor (Boston, Mass.) earned the Blue victories in the number four and five matchups following St. Lawrence victories in matchups six through nine.

Wynne dropped the first game, 12-14, to St. Lawrence first year Elizabeth Lasusa (New York, N.Y.) before running off three-straight victories to close out the match at four with 11-8, 11-4, 11-5, victories. At five, Connor swept to a 12-10, 11-4, 13-11, win over Alexandra Matamoros Infante (New Haven, Conn.) to improve to 11-1 on the season.

St. Lawrence swept to 3-0 victories at number one, two and three, with Jillian Baker (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) defeating Sarah Zhang (Lexington, Mass.), 11-9, 11-4, 11-8, at one, Emily Terry (New Minas, Nova Scotia, Canada) besting Meera Nayar (Mamaroneck, N.Y.), 11-3, 11-6, 11-3, at two and Zoe Kagan (Chapel Hill, N.C.) topping Rhea Advani (Mumbai, India) 11-3, 11-2, 11-6, at three.
