No. 22 Blue Squash Falls at No. 11 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- No. 11 Williams College swept to a 9-0 victory over No. 22 Wellesley College squash on Sunday afternoon. The setback snaps the Blue's three-match win streak, dropping Wellesley to 3-1 on the year. Williams improves to 5-2 on the season. 

The Ephs cruised through all nine matches, winning each in three games to take the first match-up between the two schools since the 2013 season. Esther Baek defeated Sarah Zhang (Lexington, Mass.), 11-2, 11-5, 11-5, at No. 1, Melissa Swann topped Meera Nayar (Chicago, Ill.), 11-5, 11-4, 11-7, at No. 2, and Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra defeated Eva Mullarkey (Locust Valley, N.Y.), 11-6, 11-5, 11-2, at No. 3.

Williams continued with victories at No. 4, as Anna Nicholson defeated Haley Connor (Boston, Mass.), 11-3, 11-3, 11-3, No. 5, where Charlotte Walsh downed Rhea Advani (Mumbai, India), 11-9, 11-7, 11-6, and No. 6, thanks to an 11-4, 11-6, 11-4 win by Alyssa Ritchie over Ruby Feng (Old Lyme, Conn.). Victories by Caroline Hogan over Meredith Curry (Medfield, Mass.), Ellen Coombe over Lumi Kinjo (Tokyo, Japan) and Elizabeth Bower over Elena Ubeda (Natick, Mass.) completed the Williams win. 

Wellesley will return to action in 2017 when they travel to Philadelphia to play Drexel University on Monday, January 16, at 6:00 PM.
