Wellesley Wins 2011 Seven Sisters Swimming & Diving Championship

WELLESLEY, Mass. --  For the 14th-consecutive year, Wellesley College took home the team title at the Seven Sisters Swimming and Diving Championships.  The host Blue picked up a two-day total of 1138 points, outdistancing runner-up Vassar, who tallied a total of 805. In third place, Smith College moved up a spot from day one, to finish with 714.5 points.  Mount Holyoke took fourth place with a 648.5 while Bryn Mawr finished fifth with 350 points.

After taking top honors in seven of yesterday's 13 events, Wellesley used it's depth to seal the championship.  The Blue rattled off three wins in day two action, while Bryn Mawr, Smith, Mount Holyoke and Vassar each picked up one event win.

Wellesley swimmers Dana Dutton and Keelin Nave led all athletes with five wins each, while individually, Bryn Mawr's Meredith Davis came home with three victories.

Dutton opened the third and final swimming session with a victory in the 1,650-free (18:31.59), while Nave closed out the individual events with a winning time of 2:16.41 in the 200-fly.  The Blue also picked up a win in the 400-free relay, completing a sweep of the relay events, as Dutton, Anne Hamilton, Nave, and Mariam Amirkhanashvili teamed up to post a 3:47.14.

Bryn Mawr's Davis picked up her third win of the meet with a first place finish in 55.14 to win the 100-free.  Vassar's Shannon Sara touched the wall first in the 100-free (2:34.05) for her second win of the weekend.

Rounding out the day's action, Mount Holyoke's Lauren Williams picked up the Lyons first win of the meet, recorded a 2:16.15 in the 100-back, while Smith's Alexis Roehrich completed a Pioneer sweep of the diving events, with a 386.30 on the 3-meter board.
