Swimming and Diving Falls to Conn,. Bates

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Wellesley College swimming and diving team closed out their 2010-11 dual meet schedule with losses to tough NESCAC foes in Connecticut College and Bates College.

The Blue fell to Conn. by a 201-78 score and to Bates, 193-99. The losses dip Wellesley's overall record to 5-4 on the year.

Highlighting the tri-meet for the Blue were first-years Keelin Nave and Hayley Goydan, who each notched second place finishes. Nave touched second in the 100-fly (1:02.02), also taking fourth in the 500-free (5:23.39). Goydan took second on the 1-meter board, tallying 205.3 points, just 1.4 points behind the first-place diver.

Also for Wellesley, first-year Anne Hamilton took third in the 200-free (2:02.21), while sophomore Chelsea-Ann Patry placed second in the 3-meter diving event with a total of 179.70.

The Blue now look ahead to the 2011 NEWMAC Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke. The three-day event kicks off on Friday, February 18th at 10:00am.
