200 Medley Relay, Sticco-Ivins Garner NEWMAC Weekly Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. – After winning the program's 25th Seven Sisters title on Sunday afternoon, Wellesley College swimming & diving has earned both the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Relay Team and Diver of the Week Awards for the week ending January 24th.  

NEWMAC Women's Relay Team of the Week: Wellesley, 200 Medley Relay Team

Cathy Chen (First Year, Parsippany, N.J.), Charlotte Harris (Senior, Cincinnati, Ohio), Dorothy Ren (Senior, San Jose, Calif.) and Ieva Galinyte (Senior, Irvine, Calif.)

First year Cathy Chen teamed up with seniors Charlotte Harris, Dorothy Ren and Ieva Galinyte to help the Blue set a new Seven Sisters record with a time of 1:50.16 in the 200 Medley Relay on day one of the 2016 Seven Sisters Championship. The time topped the previous record of 1:50.99, set by the Blue in 2014.

Chen, Harris and Ren were part of Wellesley's 200 Medley NEWMAC Relay Team of the Week for the week ending November 15. In addition, Chen, Harris and Galintye were members of the Blue's 200 Free Relay Team that earned Relay Team of the Week on November 9th.

NEWMAC Women's Diver of the Week

Maura Sticco-Ivins (Sophomore, Framingham, Mass.)

Sticco-Ivins won both the 1 and 3-meter titles at this weekend's Seven Sisters Swimming & Diving Championship. On Saturday, Sticco-Ivins broke her own Seven Sisters record to win the 1-Meter (11 dives) with a score of 530.00. She then went on to win the 3-Meter (11 dives) on Sunday, again breaking her own meet record with a score of 514.90.

Sticco-Ivins has now won the NEWMAC Diver of the Week Award six times during the 2015-16 season.

Wellesley swimming & diving will host the squad's final home meet of the season on Saturday, January 30, when the Blue welcome Bates and Conn. College to Chandler Pool at 1:00 PM.
