Wellesley Swim & Dive Earns Seven NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2019-20 Swimming & Diving Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 112 student-athletes were honored, including seven from the Wellesley College swimming & diving team.

Leading the way for the Blue are seniors Sarah Gladstone (Brookline, Mass.), Maggie Haley (Shady Side, Md.) and Danielle Peterson (Livingston, N.J.). Gladstone, a Psychology major, Haley, a Political Science and Economics major, and Peterson, a Biological Sciences major, each earned the honor for the third time in as many years. Junior Hannah May (Cincinnati, Ohio), a Media Arts and Sciences major, was recognized for the second time in her career, while sophomores Alexandra Bullen-Smith (Lawrenceville, N.J.), Emery Dutton (Wayland, Mass.), and Emma Roberts (Boxford, Mass.) were each recognized for the first time in their first year of eligibility.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2019 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Wellesley opens the 2020 NEWMAC Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday evening, February 20, at 6:00 PM at MIT. The Championships continue Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, February 21-23 with sessions at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM each day.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
