Jessica Wegner Named NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week and Blue Earn Relay of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Senior Jessica Wegner (Taipei, Taiwan) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimmer of the Week for the week ending 1/31. The Blue also pick up the NEWMAC Relay of the Week with the team of Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.), Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Co.), Angela Zhu (Bayside, N.Y.), and Wegner. It marks the third time Wellesley has earned the Relay of the Week award.

On Friday, Wegner took home three individual victories in the team's dual meet with Coast Guard. The senior broke her best time this season and earned her first victory of the night with a 59.93 in the 100 Back. Her second win came in the 100 Fly with a time of 58.56. Wegner cruised to her third win by swimming a 2:13.80 in the 200 yard IM.

The squad of Cai, Mitsuoka, Zhu, and Wegner sailed to a victory in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:51.68. 

The Blue will compete at the NEWMAC Championships from Thursday, February 17 to Sunday, February 20.
