Blue Swimming & Diving Set for NEWMAC Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving is set to compete in the 2022 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships this weekend at MIT's Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center in Cambridge, Mass.

The Blue enter the championships with a 3-2 overall record and a first place finish at the Sisters Invitational. Last time Wellesley competed in the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center, senior Jessica Wegner (Taipei, Taiwan) earned an NCAA "B" cut with a 56.02 in the 100 Fly. First year Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.) looks to continue her breakout season as she was named the NEWMAC Co-Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Jan. 16. The Blue have also collected three Relay of the Week honors, including two in medley relays. Wellesley placed fifth in the most recent NEWMAC Championships back in the 2019-20 season.

Competition begins on Thursday evening, February 17, with finals at 4:00 PM and continues Friday-Sunday, February 18-20. Preliminary competition will take place at 10:00 AM and will be followed by finals at 6:00 PM each day. For more information, visit newmacsports.com.
