Tennis Sweeps NESCAC-Foe Colby

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College tennis team posted a 9-0 non-conference sweep over NESCAC-foe Colby College on Friday night.  The win improves the Blue to 5-2, while the Mules open the 2010-11 season 0-1.

The Blue set the tone of the match from the start, recording all three doubles points.  Jacqueline Shen and Diana Granger posted an 8-5 win at first doubles, while Kendall Tada and Erica Choo held off a late Colby charge to win 9-7 at two.  In the third spot, Nathalie Herman and Raji Nagalla cruised to an 8-1 victory.

In singles, Shen was the first off the court, with a 6-0, 6-1, win in the first spot, while her doubles partner, Granger, also made quick work of her opponent, winning 6-1, 6-0 at five.  Choo and Herman recorded straight set wins at two and three, while Morgan Johnstonbaugh won a three set match at six.  Completing the night's sweep, Tada won a marathon match 7-5(5), 7-5(0) in the fourth flight.

The Blue return to action tomorrow, with a 1:00pm road match at NEWMAC-rival, Smith.
