Tennis Blanked by #12 Bowdoin

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College tennis team was blanked by 12th-ranked Bowdoin College, as the Blue fell 9-0 their season finale on Saturday morning in Wellesley.

The loss ends Wellesley's season at 15-8 overall. Bowdoin now improves to 14-5.

The Polar Bears took a 3-0 advantage after doubles play. Wellesley's first flight duo of Jacqueline Shen and Diana Granger played the closest match, falling 8-6 to the Bowdoin team of Kellen Alberstone and Kate Winingham.  At two, Emily Lombardi and Emma Lewis defeated Marie Watanabe and Erica Choo, 8-3, while at three, Chantalle Lavertu and Hannah Hoerner posted an 8-2 win over Nathalie Herman and Kendall Tada

In singles play, Wellesley's Choo and Tada each took a set from their opponent before falling in deciding third sets. At three, Choo took the first set against Lewis, but fell 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. At six, Tada forced a third set before falling in the tiebreaker, 6-1, 3-6, 10-6.

In the other singles matches, Watanabe fell to Alberstone at one, 6-2, 6-3, while Shen lost to Lombardi, 6-2, 6-0 at two. At four, Granger lost to Lavertu, 6-2, 6-1, while Winingham upended Herman, 6-2, 6-0 at five.
