WELLESLEY, Mass. — No. 19 Tufts University took a 2-1 lead after doubles and cruised to a 7-2 final over No. 30 Wellesley College tennis on Friday evening at the Wellesley College tennis courts.

Playing a home match outside for the first time since the fall season, Wellesley picked up its victories at number one singles and number one doubles. Senior Sojung Lee and sophomore Carina Chen defeated Alexa Meltzer and Conner Calabro, 8-4, to earn the victory in doubles. Lee then went on to defeat Meltzer (6-3, 6-0) in singles play.

The Jumbos earned a pair of hard fought victories in the second and third doubles matches. Blue sophomores Dasha Kostikina and Samantha Stone gave Lauren Louks and Jacqueline Baum all they could handle before falling in a tiebreak 9-8 (2) at number two. In the number three match, Aandrita Deb and Zoe Miller managed to slip by first year Emily Olson and sophomore Andjela Stojkovic for a 9-7 victory.

After earning a pair of hard-fought victories in doubles play, Tufts swept to two set victories in the five of the six singles matches. Calabro defeated Chen (6-2, 6-3) at number two, while Louks topped Hsu (6-0, 6-4) at number three.

Both Stone and Olson made a rally at number four and five respectively, but ultimately it was Tufts that would take those matches as well. Baum defeated Stone (6-4, 6-4) at number four and Miller defeated Olson (7-5, 6-4) at five. Finally, Deb closed out the 7-2 win with a victory over Kostikina in the number six matchup (6-3, 6-2).

Wellesley will conclude the 2014-15 regular season tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM when they host Stonehill. The match will also be senior day for Sojung Lee.
