Lee Wins Bracket to Lead Blue Tennis at Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Sophomore Cinji Lee (Seoul, South Korea) won the D bracket to highlight the weekend for Wellesley College tennis, as the Blue finished play at the 2019 Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday.

Lee advanced to the finals with a pair of victories on Friday. She defeated Laura Littlefield of Bates in the opening round before defeating Jessica Tsai of Colby, 7-6, 7-4, in the semifinals. Lee faced Lindsay Hernandez of Colby in the D final on Saturday and earned the win. Lee was the only Wellesley player to advance past the second round in her bracket.

The doubles draw included 18 different pairings, while the singles tournament consisted of five brackets made-up of eight players each. Multiple Blue players competed in consolation round matches in both singles and doubles on Saturday after falling in opening round bracket play on Friday. Junior Lily Chu (Princeton, N.J.) and sophomore Libby Chang (San Marino, Calif.) and sophomores Michelle Shen (Dallas, Texas) and Michaela Markwart (Hanover, Mass.) all won doubles matches on Saturday. Wellesley will return to the courts on February 23, 2020 for a 10:00 AM match-up at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse with TCNJ.
