Wellesley Tennis Bested by Colby, 8-1

WATERVILLE, Maine - No. 24 Colby was able to pull off an 8-1 win over No. 37 Wellesley College tennis on Saturday.

The Mules picked up victories at all three doubles' positions with scores of 8-2, 8-5, and 8-1. Colby juniors Sam Riordan (Madison, Conn.) and Sydney Landau (Charlotte, N.C.) defeated Wellesley juniors Annissa Mu (Saratoga, Calif.) and Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) at No. 1 doubles. 

No. 2 doubles saw Colby represented by first years Maddie Omicioli (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Isabella Suk (Minnetonka, Minn.) against the Blue's duo of junior Cristiana DeAgazio (Winchester, Mass.) and first year Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.).

At No. 3 doubles Wellesley saw Junior Jennifer Fan (Vancouver, British Columbia) and first year Isabella DeAgazio (Winchester, Mass.) fall to senior Caleigh McClain (Chesterfield, Mo.) and first year Amelie Gal (Toronto, Ontario) for the Mules.

The Mules took five of six singles, with only Pak earning a win for the Blue. 

Mu, I. DeAgazio, C. DeAgazio, and Fan all fell in straight sets at No. 1, 3, 4, and 6 singles.

At No. 2 singles Alviar took the first set off of Landau 6-2 before Landau came back to grind out a 7-5 second set and finish off the match in the third set tiebreaker.

Pak earned the lone win for Wellesley at No. 5 singles when her opponent, Suk, had to retire due to injury at 4-4 in the first set.

The Blue remain on the road at Bates next Saturday for a 1:00 PM matchup while the Mules host Brandeis tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
