Blue Tennis Dispatches Colby-Sawyer, 7-2

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Wellesley College tennis celebrated their first outdoor match on their newly surfaced tennis courts with a 7-2 win over Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday.

Wellesley's No. 3 doubles team of junior Jennifer Fan (Vancouver, British Columbia) and first year Isabella DeAgazio (Winchester, Mass.) scored an 8-1 victory over sophomores Elise Hogan (Duxbury, Mass.) and Amelia Campanella (Chepachet, R.I.). No. 1 doubles wasn't far behind with Wellesley juniors Annissa Mu (Saratoga, Calif.) and Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) overpowering sophomore Grace Carpenter (Milford, N.H.) and senior Emily Hill (Wilmington, Mass.) 8-2.

No. 2 doubles also went in the Blue's favor with  junior Cristiana DeAgazio (Winchester, Mass.) and first year Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.) taking an 8-4 win over Isabella Gutierrez Avendano (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) and sophomore Lily Tria (Westerly, R.I.)

I. DeAgazio and Pak earned the fourth and fifth points for Wellesley with 6-2, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-2 wins at No. 2 and 4 singles. Mu took No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-4.

The Chargers took a point back with a comeback effort from Hill over C. DeAgazio in a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-8) win.

Fan gave the Blue a 7-1 lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, before the Chargers won the final match with Trip defeating Wellesley first year Daniela Chiarini (Miami, Fla.) 6-0, 6-2.

The Blue remain home tomorrow at 3:30 PM to host Eastern Nazarene while the Chargers host UMass Boston on Sunday at 12:00 PM.
