WELLESLEY, Mass. - No. 28 New York U. secured an 8-1 win over Wellesley College tennis on Sunday indoor Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.

The Violets (9-1 Overall) got out to an early lead over the Blue (6-7 Overall) in doubles when their regionally No. 5 ranked team of grad student Ida Krause (Vedbaek, Denmark) and sophomore Dakota Fordham (New York, N.Y.) shutout Wellesley juniors Annissa Mu (Saratoga, Calif.) and Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.

No. 2 doubles was competitive with NYU's pairing of senior Karina Jensrud (Oslo, Norway) and junior Molly Heber (Mill Valley, Calif.) pulling away late to earn an 8-5 victory over first years Isabella DeAgazio (Winchester, Mass.) and Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.).

After NYU lead 4-1 at No. 3 doubles juniors Cristiana DeAgazio (Winchester, Mass.) and Jennifer Fan (Vancouver, British Columbia) regained their footing for the Blue, tying the match at 6-6 before going to a 7-7 tiebreaker. It would be the Violets duo of sophomore Jimena Menendez (Miami, Fla.) and first year Aditi Narayan (Bangalore, India) who ultimately won the 8-7 epic.

The Violets extended their lead with Jnsrud earning a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles over Alviar. NYU clinched the match with Krause coming alive in the second against Mu at No. 1 singles. After edging out a 7-6 first set, Krause won a convincing 6-0 second.

I. DeAgazio came out swimming at No. 3 singles, racing out to a 6-0 first set. However, Menendez regrouped and fought back a 7-5 second set, before closing out the comeback with a 6-3 third.

No. 4, 5, and 6 singles were played as eight-game pro sets due to the length of the match.

C. DeAgazio put the Blue on the scoreboard with a strong 8-4 performance over Narayan at No. 4 singles. Heber scored the seventh point for the Violets with an 8-3 win over Pak that Heber was never behind in.

New York U. Took the final point in a spotless 8-0 match by first year Kendall Kamerschen (Atlanta, Ga.) over Wellesley first year Daniela Chiarini (Miami, Fla.)

The Blue head across town on Tuesday to face New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Babson at 3:30 PM. The Violets will compete in the University Athletic Association (UAA) conference championships in Altamonte Springs, Fla. beginning next Friday.
