Mu Advances to Round of 32 as Four Represent Blue Tennis at ITA Regionals

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Senior Annissa Mu (Saratoga, Calif.) advanced to the round of 32 as Wellesley College tennis competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals hosted by Wesleyan (CT) on Friday at the John Wood Memorial Tennis Courts.

In the "A" singles draw, Mu defeated Nichols junior Antonia Carrero (Hamburg, Germany), 6-3, 6-3 in the opening round. However, Mu's trip through the bracket came to an end in the round of 32, as Brandeis sophomore Rebecca Suarez (Huntington, N.Y.) defeated the Wellesley senior, 6-3, 6-1.

Alos competing for Wellesley, senior Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) fell 6-2, 6-4 in the "A" draw singles round of 64 to Smith first year Ayla Hauser (Knoxville, Tenn.). In doubles, Mu and Alviar lost 8-6 to Brandeis first year Chahana Budhbhatti (Ahmedabad, India) and junior Sabrina Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii).

Wellesley first year Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) dropped an 8-3 match to Tufts sophomore Stephanie Woodbury (Eads, Tenn.) in the round of 32 of the "B" singles draw. Also in the "B" singles draw, sophomore Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.) lost 8-4 against Middlebury first year Ananya Annapantula (Mason, Ohio) in the play in round.

Up next, the Blue will close out the fall season at NEWITT, October 6-8.
