Blue Tennis Takes 8-1 Win over Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. – Wellesley College tennis extended its win streak to three with an 8-1 win over Lewis & Clark College at the Lewis & Clark Tennis Dome on Wednesday.

The Blue (4-1 Overall) started off on the right foot by winning all three doubles lines over the Pioneers (3-8 Overall) and never looked back. 

Seniors Annissa Mu (Saratoga, Calif.) and Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up a strong 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over senior Seraphina Vossen (Los Gatos, Calif.) and sophomore Susanna Anand (Troutdale, Ore.).

Sophomore Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.) and first year Suzanne Xu (Boyds, Md.) had an identical scoreline at No. 2 doubles against senior Arielle Bloom (Portland, Ore.) and junior Hayley Kreps (Portland, Ore.). 

First years Kriti Sarav (Chicago, Ill.) and Lily Cade (Minneapolis, Minn.) completed the sweep with an 8-3 victory over junior Kacie Lau (Honolulu, Hawaii) and first year Charlotte Makoni (East Palo Alto, Calif.).

Sarav pushed Wellesley's lead to 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Bloom at No. 4 singles. First year Veda Madhusudan (Short Hills, N.J.) clinched the match for the Blue shortly after with a 6-2, 6-2 performance over first year Emma Loucks (Vancouver, Wash.) at No. 3 singles.

Alviar snagged a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Vossen at No. 2 singles. Anand put Lewis & Clark on the board with a comeback 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(8) win at No. 1 singles.

First year Dalia Khera (Houston, Texas) added another point for the Blue by winning 7-5, 6-4 at No. 5 singles against Kreps. Senior Jennifer Fan (Vancouver, British Columbia) wrapped up the 8-1 team win with a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0(3) victory at No. 6 singles over Makoni.

The Blue wrap up spring break tomorrow with a 3:00 EST match at Linfield.
