Keenan, Distance Medley Record Top-15 Finishes at NEICAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Wellesley College track and field team sent six competitors to the 2014 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAA) Indoor Championship this weekend at Boston University. The event featured the region's top student-athletes from Divisions I, II, and III. 

The Blue recorded a pair of top-15 finishes at the event, with the distance medley relay team and first-year
Mary Keenan highlighting the action for Wellesley. 

The distance medley relay of sophomore Priyanka Fouda, first-year Isabella Narvaez, sophomore Sharon Ng, and Keenan, combined for a 12th place finish. The foursome recorded a time of 12:12.53, ranking them sixth against Division III competition.

Individually, Keenan notched Wellesley's other top-15 performance, competing in the 3,000-meter run. The first-year recorded a time of 10:06.53 to rank 15th overall.

Also competing for the Blue, Fouda recorded a 26th place finish in the mile, while Wellesley's 4x400-meter relay also finished 26th. Fouda recorded a time of 5:10.48 in her race, while the relay team of junior Kathleen Hanlon, Narvaez, Ng, and junior Kendra Waters combined for a time of 4:08.04, less than two seconds off the school record.

Qualified Wellesley track and field members will be back in action at next weekend's ECAC Division III Indoor Championships. The event is being hosted at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston. A full schedule of events is available online at
