Blue Track and Field Sees Success at Gordon Kelly Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Wellesley track and field won three events at the Gordon Kelley Invitational at MIT on Saturday.

The Blue captured the top two spots in the 5000 meter race with senior Claire Anderson (Dever, Colo.) and first year Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) taking first and second place with times of 18:01.86 and 19:03.64.

Sophomore Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) won the 400 meter race with a time of 1:01.75. First year Charlie Barron (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and sophomore Alejandra Castillo (Chapel Hill, N.C.) took third and fourth in the event.

Fitzgerald also was part of a winning 4x400 meter relay team alongside first year Aleah Ghiasuddin (Newburyport, Mass.), Barron, and Castillo with a winning time of 4:19.81. 

Junior Taylor Quaye (Redondo Beach, Calif.) finished third in the 200 meter dash with a 28.02

Sophomore Ria Goveas (Bangalore, India) had personal bests in the 60 and 200 meter races with times of 8.34 and 28.16, finishing fourth overall in the 200. Classmate Charlotte Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio) had a PR in the 3000 meter event with a time of 11:16.20, good for seventh place. 

The Blue compete next Saturday at the Sisters Invitational at Smith starting at 10:30 AM.
