Blue Track and Field Tie for 18th at New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - First year Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) set a personal best in the 1000m race as Wellesley College track and field finished in a tie for 18th at the New England Division III Championships from the TRACK at New Balance.

Williams won the team competition with 127.33 points. Tufts took second with 108 while MIT grabbed third with 89.50.

Whinney (Madison, Wis.) finished third with a personal record 2:59.23 in the 1000m race, the fastest 1000m for a Blue runner since 2016. Whinney earned All-New England recognition in the 1000m.

Senior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) came in 15th in the mile event with a time of 5:15.41.

Sophomore Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) ran the 400m, taking 21st with a 1:01.88.

First year Aleah Ghiasuddin (Newburyport, Mass.) was a second off of her personal best in the 800m with a 2:27.13 for 32nd place.

The Blue are set to take part in the Tufts National Qualifying meet next Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM.
