DEDHAM, Mass. - First year Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) and senior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) both earned points for Wellesley College track & field in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Championship on Saturday  at Solomon Outdoor Track.

The Blue earned 16 points as a team to tie for 20th. Rhode Island won the team competition with 92 points, followed by UMass Amherst (75), and Northeastern (60). Tufts was the top Division III team in fourth with 51 points.

Whinney ran a personal-best 10:56.70 in the 3000 meter steeplechase to earn the bronze while Murphy-Weise was just behind with an 11:14.09 to place fifth.

Both runners will look to lower their times at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday, May 18, with a trip to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track Championship hopefully still to come.
