Wellesley Track & Field's Whinney Earns All-American Honors at NCAA DIII Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –  Wellesley College track & field first year Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) finished eighth in the 3000 meter steeplechase finals to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at Polisseni Track and Field Complex.

Whinney set a program record with a time of 10:37.97, breaking the previous record set by Leah Clement '12, who had a time of 10:41.09 in 2011. Whinney becomes the second runner in Wellesley track & field program history to earn All-American honors in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Grace Cowles '21 previously placed sixth in the event in 2019 to become an All-American.

Junior Aubrie Fisher (Ackley, Iowa) from Wartburg was the event winner with a time of 10:15.34.
