Wellesley Track & Field Finds Success at Gordon Kelly Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field had top three finishes in five events at the Gordon Kelly Invitational on Saturday at MIT's Johnson Athletic Center Track.

Senior Taylor Quaye (Los Angeles, Calif.) claimed second in the 200m with a time of 27.49. Senior Eriko Darcy (Chicago, Ill.) was fifth with a time of 27.83.

Sophomores Sara Maeve Klingensmith (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Charlie Barron (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and junior Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) went 2-3-4 in the 400m race with times of 1:02.33, 1:03.52 and 1:04.39.

Sophomore Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) personal-best time of 3:11.23 was good enough to snag second in the 1000m.

Sophomore Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) was the runner-up in the 800m with a time of 2:25.88. Later, Whinney and classmate Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) placed fifth and sixth in the 3000m race. Whinney ran a time of 10:54.99 while Beauchamp finished with a personal-best time of 10:55.97.

Wellesley's 4x400m Relay Team of Barron, Fitzgerald, Darcy and Klingensmith won the event with a winning time of 4:21.50.

Junior Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) had a personal-best time of 8.14 that was good for fourth in the 60m. Senior Taylor Quaye (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned 10th in the 60m with a time of 8.40.

Sophomore Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) claimed sixth out of 25 in the Indoor Mile with a time of 5:30.30 Sophomore Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) had a distance of 10.12m to take sixth in the Shot Put event.

First year Tristen Kunitake (Deerfield, N.H.) was eighth in the 5000m with a time of 19:58.53.

Junior Erin Dickinson (Papillion, Neb.) earned ninth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.24m. Sophomore Dova Koretsky (Pepperell, Mass.) finished 10th in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.49m.

The Blue are back in action on Saturday, September 17 at the Peter de Villiers Cup, hosted by Smith College.
