Wellesley Track & Field Sees 21 Make NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team
WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The 2024 NEWMAC Women's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team has been announced. The honorees include 21 members of Wellesley College track & field.
Seniors Bianca Lee (Hong Kong, China) and Ana Mercedes Rubin (Weston, Fla.) are each receiving their third Academic All-Conference award. Classmates Eriko Darcy (Chicago, Ill.), Ria Goveas (Bangalore, India) and Taylor Quaye (Los Angeles, Calif.) have all been recognized for a second time.
Also making a second trip to the Academic All-Conference team are juniors Charlotte Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio), Erin Dickinson (Papillion, Neb.) and Alicia Naranjo-Champion (El Monte, Calif.). Classmates Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) and Jesenia Lopez (Fontana, Calif.) both collect a first accolade.
11 first years are Academic All-Conference members in their first year of eligibility. The sophomore honorees are Charlie Barron (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.), Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.), Megan Cunningham (Portland, Maine), Meg Dugan (Cohasset, Mass.), Sara Maeve Klingensmith (Chapel Hill, N.C.), Dova Koretsky (Pepperell, Mass.), Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.), Caelan Schretzmayer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.), Olivia Torres (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.).
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2023 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) consists of 12 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Salve Regina University, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
